General Santos National School of Arts and Trades



GSNSAT was formerly General Santos National Trade School (GSNTS), opened through House Bill No. 1803 sponsored by Congressman James L. Chiongbian and was approved on May 20, 1971. The bill authorized the school to offer secondary curriculum, short term courses and trade technical courses.  
The school progressed with the prosperity of General Santos City and by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 612 sponsored by the former Assemblyman of South Cotabato Hon. Jorge P. Royeca.
General Santos National School of Arts and Trades (GSNSAT) name was approved on June 24, 1983. Such change of name paved the way to open two-year technical courses likewise technical-vocational courses with the various areas of concentration.
GSNSAT occupies the original site with an area of 72,801 sq.m. It has acquired its title on November 13, 1990 under the original Certificate Title No. P: 5521.
In response to its educational needs and manpower demands, the school opened its Post Secondary Program, by virtue of DECS Permit No. 002 series of 1987 approved on July 10, 1987 by the DECS.
And by virtue of RA 7796 or the TESDA Act of 1994, GSNSAT became a TESDA Administered school. The implemented Competency-BAsed Training (CBT) type of curriculum in relation to competency standard development.
